Kindergarten to Foundation Transition (formerly known as Prep)

Towards the end of the kindergarten year your child will be invited to attend orientation sessions with other kindergarten children who will be starting the school the following year. Transition from Kindergarten to Foundation can be assisted by parents in many ways.

February Flexible School Attendance for Foundation

Foundation children will attend school for four full days being Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday has been allocated as the rest day for all Foundation students until the 1st week of March.

Enrolling at '545' from another school

Inform the school that your child is currently attending that you are planning to transfer your child to the Sale Primary School. This will enable the school to put together the child's student file and transfer details. Contact '545' for an enrolment pack & complete enrolment form and return it to the school.

RAAF Families Transition Information

Defence School Transition Aide

Sale Primary School has a close association with the RAAF Base East Sale and as such has a number of students from Defence Force families enrolled at the school. A Defence School Transition Aide is available for Defence Force Families to access in times of need, especially regarding initial enrolment and settling in as well as transfers out when postings change.

Year 6 - 7 Transition to Secondary School

During term two each year the secondary schools in the Sale area usually arrange for the Year 7 coordinators, accompanied by year seven students to talk to the year 5 & 6 students about the programs offered at their schools. The local secondary schools conduct information Nights, Open Days during the early part of term 2 each year.

In early May the families of Year 6 students are provided with a Gippsland Region - Student Placement Form. This form is to be returned to the primary school by the end of term two indicating the parents' choice of secondary school for their child for the following school year. Schools conduct orientation programs for their prospective Year 7 students. These range from one to three days duration, depending on the secondary school.

Year 6 Graduation

Graduating from Primary School to Secondary School marks a significant stage in the lives of Year 6 students. To celebrate this important event, we hold a special graduation evening where our Year 6 students are officially farewelled by the school.
