School Council, Parent Involvement & Fundraising

School Council

Having parents active in our school helps to foster a strong community spirit. Our School Council is the governing body of the school and operates in accordance with the various School Councils Acts. It is responsible for defining the Policy of the school. Responsibilities of the school council include:

  • Policy and Curriculum
  • Finance and Budget
  • Buildings and Environment
  • Fundraising

There are sub-committees of the council to deal with the above areas, as well as for special events, such as the Annual Garden Party. The structure of the '545' School Council consists of:

  • eight parents
  • four teachers
  • Principal as the ex-officio voting member
  • up to two co-opted members (one being from Parents' Club)

We encourage parents to nominate for School Council positions. Parents are also welcome to attend any school council meeting as a visitor. There are also opportunities for parents who are not School Council members to become involved in the school. The School Council meets twice per term. A school council election is held annually.

Parent Involvement

Parents & Friends

Parents & Friends Committee is the backbone of 545 and every year, through their dedication, they provide the Sale Primary School with substantial funds to be spent on resources that benefit our children. Parents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of areas such as:

  • Annual Garden Party
  • Breakfast Club
  • Sporting Carnivals, Camps & Excursions
  • Mother's & Father's day stalls
  • Special Food Days
  • Grade 6 Graduation

Parents & Friends Committee meet once a month at school where they discuss and plan what needs to be done. They also have social gatherings every now and then which is a great way to get to know each other.

Working with Children Check (WWC Check)

Schools are required to ensure student safety and supervision by insisting that all visitors to the school have a current working with children check. Please contact the office for information if you need to organise one of these.
